–Sticky Candy: Sticky candy allows the sugars and food particles to remain on your teeth longer, which feeds the bacteria longer and increases bacterial growth and tooth decay.
–Hard Candy: The only thing worse than sticky candy on your molars is permanently damaging your teeth by chipping or breaking them on hard candy. Should you choose to risk it, be extremely gentle. If you suck on the candy instead, the sugar will dissolve into your saliva and spread around your mouth. This also feeds the bacteria in your mouth. Try sucking on sugar-free candies instead.
–Sour Candy: The acidic taste of this candy comes from added and natural acids. These will eat away at your tooth enamel. Brushing your teeth right after eating won’t help, either. After eating, your mouth is more sensitive to abrasion If you do decide to eat acidic candies or other acidic foods, chew sugarless gum afterward and wait to brush your teeth for at least 30 minutes.
